The
premiere light tackle game fish of the Northwest, we fish for both winter and
summer runs of steelhead. Our home rivers are the legendary Cowlitz and Lewis
Rivers of southwest Washington. Incorporating light spinning equipment and small
baits of roe, the most productive runs are covered as the boat drifts in the
current. With proper control of the boat, we are able to turn even the beginning
fisherman into a venerable angler. Deceptively light bites give way to epic
battles that have earned the steelhead a place in lore and tradition. When conditions
are right, we will also fish the Kalama and Washougal Rivers, along with the
fabled streams of Washingtons Olympic Peninsula. These trips are by drift
boat, the most peaceful and personable way to enjoy a day on the water
Prime time for the winter run on the Cowlitz, Lewis, Kalama and Washougal extends
from December through February. The average winter steelhead is eight to ten
pounds with many going twelve and into the teens. March and April see the return
of the Olympic Peninsulas wild steelhead. With true trophy potential,
these natives average twelve pounds and every year anglers land exceptional
fish over the twenty pound mark.
June finds us again on the Cowlitz and Lewis Rivers fishing for summer steelhead.
Energized by the warmer summer flows, these fish are prone to awesome aerial
displays when hooked. At times we will target summer runs in the Columbia River.
Bound for Oregon, Washington and Idaho tributaries, the mainstem Columbia can
produce outstanding action. Combination steelhead, sturgeon trips provide surefire
action and all the beauty of summer in the Northwest.
